With less than a week remaining before our Twice in a Lifetime excursion officially launches, the workload ahead seems absolutely overwhelming. Both Kathy and I have a ton of work to do at our offices so that we can begin our trip with clear consciences, and there are a ton of details at home that need attention.
My brother Greg continues to construct the new closet in what will be Leah May's bedroom, and we still have a few items to purchase so that he can finish the work. (Thanks, Greg!) We need to corner our neighbor about having her 14-year-old son mow our lawn next week. The entire house is a bloomin' mess thanks to our moving the office from upstairs (where Leah May's bedroom will be) to the room downstairs (formerly the guest bedroom): books, unwanted furniture, pillows, papers, you name it, are scattered everywhere awaiting final disposition. Various odds and ends must be purchased for our travel needs. And so on. I think I even have to eat a number of delicious, perishable items that surely will spoil if we otherwise try to wait...
In the meantime, Rene's baseball team -- the second-place Reds of the Astro League -- begin tournament play tomorrow (Tuesday) evening, weather permitting. We have a practice tonight, again, weather permitting. If they win tomorrow, I'm guessing there might be another practice Wednesday with a game Thursday. The final game would be Saturday. There's nothing I'd rather see than my son rolling on the ground in a pile of boys celebrating a championship, but if they keep winning, the hours for accomplishing our tasks become fewer. Oh, well, we'll deal with whatever happens!
