Kathy: Happy Campers

This weekend we were in glamorous Kokomo, Indiana, for Camp Mabuhay, a culture camp for kids adopted from the Philippines. We've attended the camp for the last three years, and Rene seems to enjoy it more every year. My favorite part is the adult cooking lesson. In past years I've learned to make kebobs and fried plantains, and this year's lesson centered on a delicious tropical fruit salad.

Word about our upcoming trip spread quickly around the camp, and everyone seemed thrilled for us. Several native Filipinos at the camp are either from the city where Leah May lives or had lived there at one point, so we got some great tips on things to see while we're there.

Speaking of things to see, enjoy the photo of David and Rene. The hats were part of the camp's craft activity, in which all the kids and parents decorated their own fiesta hats. I sure wish I could have my picture in a goofy hat posted online for everyone in the world to see, but alas, someone had to be the photographer.
